Julie was born in Leeds, Yorkshire. She attended Oxford Brookes University and gained an honours degree in Music and German. She followed this with an ARCM from the Royal College of Music whilst working with Elizabeth Robson. She continued her studies in Voice and Vocal Pedagogy with the renowned Professor Janice Chapman MOA and later with Dame Josephine Barstow.
Julie has had a long and varied career singing Opera with highlights being the Mozart heroines Donna Anna, Fiordiligi and Countess Almaviva. More recently her opera work has been in the Dramatic Soprano field where she has sung Leonore Fidelio for Opera Herts and covered for Dorset Opera. She sang Helmwige for Berwick Festival Opera. As an oratorio soloist she has performed the majority of the major oratorios from Bach to Orff, Britten to Beethoven.
As a teacher of voice she has been highly sought after and has held post of Resident Vocal Coach at The London Oriana Choir and Harrow Choral Society.
She has studied choral conducting with the Sing for Pleasure Charity and with Amy Bebbington at the Association of British Choral Conductors and Sherborne Summer School. She currently conducts and leads Northwood Choral Society, East Barnet Ladies Choir and North Middlesex Federation TG Choir.

Julie Bale enjoys a successful career as a conductor and choir leader, soprano, voice teacher and workshop leader of renown. Her leadership style and ability to be an excellent musical communicator have led her to some very successful engagements. She is the conductor of Northwood Choral Society, East Barnet Ladies Choir and North Middlesex TG Choir. As a voice trainer Julie has worked with singers at all levels of the profession, she trained as a classical singer with Janice Chapman AUA MOA and has held posts of Resident Singing Teacher with a number of Prestigious London Choirs including London Oriana Choir. She regularly leads workshops with choirs on vocal and performance technique as well as running her own highly successful private practice in Watford.
Julie has performed the majority of the major choral works with choirs all around the UK. She is particularly in demand for performances of Verdi’s Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana. In opera her highlights have been as Leonora Fidelio and Helmwige Die Walküre as well as the Mozart heroines. She is also an experienced recitalist recently giving a performance of Richard Strauss Four Last Songs at Ely Cathedral. During lockdown she has been in very high demand delivering vocal technique workshops to a number of choirs and she currently gives extremely popular online group singing lessons. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher and works from Everywoman Yoga
