Many of you know that in April I developed and given a series of workshops on vocal technique aimed at Choral Singers. It was a really great few weeks getting to know singers’ voices better in this intimate setting, from their own front rooms!
At first I struggled with the thought that without being able to sing together as a choir, what could we actually achieve... and the answer is resoundingly.. a lot!!!!
Each week I guided around 15-20 singers from various choirs through the basics of vocal technique, covering breathing, postural alignment, straw phonation, resonance, articulation, jaw independence, tongue root tension, artistry and performance and so much more.
Each week the singers became more assured in their “performances” - there were some massive Aha moments and everyone left buzzing at the end of each session, eager to go away and play with the tools given.
It was wonderful to see singers return each week having played with the technique from the week before and many of them having solidly put it in place.
I have SO enjoyed this time. Thank you to everyone who took part! Congratulations to you ALL !
And just in case you’re wondering what’s next... online classes with Northwood Choral Society every Sunday, Harrow Choral Society have commissioned these workshops for their members.
I am running group singing lessons on a Tuesday, Friday & Saturday afternoon which are booked up until September and hope to have a number of Masterclass type sessions up and running in September , which will allow singers to perform in front of a larger audience and work with me on the technique learned.
if you would like to be a part of the singing lessons or masterclasses please contact me firstname.lastname@example.org for more details!
